The British love to Kew

A few weeks ago Mr Tall, his mum, his brother and I went to visit Kew Gardens. I’d never been before and the weather wasn’t great for it but we had a wonderful time. Usually when we go to any gardens, we spend most of the time outside, but because it was cold and grey, we decided to view a lot of the hot houses, indoor exhibits and special limited-time displays.

We visited a beautiful exhibit showcasing art featuring seed pods and dried flowers. This was housed inside the same building as a magnificent room dedicated to the botanical art of Victorian artist Marianne North. Every inch of space in the room and side chamber were decorated floor to ceiling with her framed paintings of flora and fauna from her travels across the globe. Mesmerizing!

We also had an amazing lunch at the restaurant by the lake (I couldn’t resist talking about food!) and I had a gorgeous wild mushroom risotto with basil oil. Delicious!
